Creating a new brand and design system for Sweden's biggest loan comparison service

Lendo

Creating a brand, especially for larger organisations, requires lots of listening in on different departments. What does the client want to say? What is its target audience? How will the brand play in various marketing material?

Lendo is a Swedish financial technology (fintech) company that provides a digital marketplace for personal loans. The company was founded in 2007 and has since expanded to operations in several European countries. Lendo's core business is to connect consumers who are in need of personal loans with a network of lenders. Using their online platform, customers can easily compare loan offers from different lenders and choose the one that best suits their needs. Lendo aims to simplify the loan process for consumers, making it faster, more transparent and cost-effective.

The project started with Lendo needing additional frontend support, which then grew in scope to also feature UX/UI Design. When it was time to design a new brand and design system, both agencies and in-house designers got to pitch their ideas. In the end, Lendo went with my design, featuring playful colors and a friendly timeless logotype.

The new "speech bubble" symbol and its bars inside stands for comparison, which is Lendo's core business.

Another part of the project was to design their new web in accordance with the new brand. Interviews and other forms of research was made before landing in a final design.

Even though desktop isn't the primary device of Lendo's users, we still needed to make sure users got all the relevant information as early on as possible in their user journey.

In the project's final stages, I also got to build a scalable design system for all of Lendo's products. This was done together with a team of frontend developers, who put it all together in Storybook. This cooperation between UX and development led to a better understanding from both parties about how the components should and could be used; a valuable lesson for all companies.

UX/UI design for one of Sweden's biggest elevator manufaturer for private elevators

Aritco

Following brand guidelines is something that is necessary for every design project, but sometimes you need to be flexible in order to create user-friendly components and sections for the web.

Aritco is a Swedish company that specializes in designing and manufacturing innovative and sustainable lifts. The company offers a range of lift solutions for both residential and public spaces. Aritco's lifts are designed to be efficient, space-saving, and aesthetically pleasing. The company is committed to sustainability, and all of its lifts are energy-efficient and made using environmentally friendly materials.

In addition to its focus on sustainability, Aritco is also dedicated to providing excellent customer service. The company offers a range of services to help customers choose the right lift for their needs, as well as installation, maintenance, and repair services.

For this project, I helped Aritco migrate content from three different webs and put it all into one single web. We had to carefully select which content to keep, and which content to let go so that we didn't create a gigantic mess of a website. We also had to take all the content into account during the design process, since we needed to know what content blocks had to be made to later piece all the content together.

Getting to work with amazing photos and a previously custom made typeface made it easy to create new and attractive sections and components.

Mobile users were prioritized when designing for the web, since the majority of Aritco's users land on the page in a mobile device.

It's always a challenge to work with an overwhelming amount of content and making sure you don't miss anything crucial for the user, however the end product was something that was designed well, scalable and has been Aritco's main digital platform since 2019.

Helping insurance holders report claims and get reimbursed with ease

Euro Accident

It is always a challenge designing accessible apps when you want to make it user-friendly for everyone, but at the same time create a "wow"-experience.

Euro Accident is a Scandinavian insurance company that offers a range of health and life insurance products. The company was founded in 1996 and has since expanded to several countries, including Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. One of Euro Accident's primary focuses is on providing insurance for high-risk professions and activities, such as extreme sports or hazardous occupations. They also offer traditional life and health insurance policies for individuals and families.

Euro Accident prides itself on its customer service, offering personalized advice and support to its policyholders. The company also emphasizes transparency and simplicity in its policies and processes.

Together with the client and a design team, I led the process of designing the new app for their insurance holders. After workshopping with stakeholders, we decided on a user-frienldy approach where we focused on making the "report claim"-flows as easy and streamlined as possible.

Euro Accident's main brand color is a strong pink hue. This color previously dominated the entire app, making it distracting and messy. Instead, we tried to limit the main brand color to buttons and elements that needed the user's attention, while still staying true to the graphic profile.

The design system as a whole had to be scalable for future development, and also easily understandable by the developers over at Euro Accident.

The project started with a few intense weeks where we workshopped solutions, gathered research, and then moved on to making pixel-perfect designs for the developers. The more the design files grew, the more independently the developers could work without input. However, we still remain in contact in order to give feedback on various design aspects on the product as it grows internally.

Large scale design systems and technical UX for the insurance industry

Putting together a design system for a tool used by thousands of claim handlers, resellers, customer service workers, and other personnel requires lots of research, workshopping and carefully designing all the tool's components.

I helped the client decide on a new design for their internal insurance system, which is used to manage all of their customer's insurances. It was important from the beginning to include all necessary parties in order to get a good understanding of what challenges they face today and where they want the product to go in the future.

Since Microsoft Office is a product most of their personnel are used to already, we decided to piggyback on the menu structure used in Office products already. The rest of the design was made to be readable, compressed (without causing issues) and restructuring content where it makes sense.
